44 feet of true blue water cruiser. Aluminium hull and deck built by Dutch yard Vermass of Amsterdam in 1988. Two good sized cabins and a spacious saloon make this a very comfortable yacht rigged for long distance short handed cruising. Equinox is a well fitted out, very seaworthy vessel.
Two cabin layout. Large forward cabin with double berth. Seating and very spacious feel. The seating to port lifts up and has in the past covered a sea toilet within this compartment. Now removed but a wash hand basin remains on the starboard side. Numerous cupboards and lockers for storage of gear and equipment.
Saloon has centrally mounted large saloon table with folding leaves. C shaped seating around this table to port and a long bench settee to starboard. Lee cloths fitted to these for use at sea. Good storage behind, under and above these settees. Galley at aft end of saloon to port with double sinks, 4 burner cooker with oven custom made for the boat, gimbals to an exceptional angle! Fridge with freezer compartment. Many cupboards, drawers and lockers for all crockery, utensils and vitals. Large and spacious aft cabin with double bunk greater than half the width of the boat. Access to engine space and again ample storage spaces for gear and equipment.
Opposite the galley is a outboard facing chart table and nav station with full sized chart table, controls for all ships systems, and electronic navigation aids. A sturdy seat is fixed here for comfortable use of this area when at sea.
Aft of the nav station is the heads compartment with sea toilet, wash hand basin and bath with shower handset.
All cabins have ducted heating from an Eberspacher D5LC heating system.
Throughout all these areas there are lifting floorboards which will give acces to under floor storage and sight of the hull.
Aft cockpit is well sized for handling the yacht. There is a smaller covered cockpit forward of this with a solid aluminium roof with viewing windows all around. The perfect place to sit in rough or inclement weather. Adequately sized Lewmar self tailing winches are on either side mounted on the cockpit coamings for handling the foresail sheets. There is a self tailing winch mounted centrally on the bridge deck between the cockpits, for the control of the mainsheet.
Cockpit lockers are to be found under the seating to starboard and a large lazarette one can be found under the helm seating. All seating and decks within the cockpit are laid with teak.
There are quarter pushpits mounted on each transom and these have holders for lifebelts, danbouy and life raft. The life raft is a Zodiac 6 man unit which is due a service (Feb 21).
