NEWER ZF TRANSMISSION
boat has Volvo TAMDs at 480HP and the GenSet is a Kohler 21.5K.
480hp Volvo Penta TAMD-74 Diesels: Est 1400 hours (will confirm)
** ZF Transmissions – Port less than 250 hours, Stbd less than 50 hours• Both installed by Tolchester Marina, Certified ZF Dealer • This is a serious value-add to “Into the Mystic”. These are between $8k and 9k each and another couple K to install them.
Kohler 21.5 Generator: Est 3000 hours (will confirm)
“Bow to Stern” Summary (Exterior)• Fortress FX-55 Anchor – SIGNIFICANTLY better than the standard Delta Plow that Carver equipped these boats with. Exceptional anchor for the Chesapeake. • New Sun-Pads – Virtually un-used • Forward Halogens and PA System • Three Wipers (some 506 came with only one) • Boarding Ladder – designed to work on both port and starboard • Stern Halogens • Exterior needs a serious clean/compound/wax. That will be considered in the sale price.
Interior Summary• Décor through-out is arguably the most desirable – Black Corian with Cherry Wood interior. • Custom forward bedding to match above mentioned Décor. • Salon port and starboard upper ‘curtain’s replaced with significantly thicker and higher quality fabric for both privacy and sun protection.
“Bow to Stern Summary” (Interior)
Forward Stateroom / Head, Mid Stateroom / Head• Forward AC Unit needs replaced • Portable AC Unit in shower works great and can be included in purchase • Both Heads rebuilt / serviced several years back – motors either rebuilt or replaced and all new Dometic serviceable items service. Very light use, both work exceptionally well.
Galley• Refrigerator needs replaced • Freezer works great • Dishwasher is a total game changer. Not many of the 506s have this and for a live-aboard or cruiser who likes to anchor out, the way this unit uses such little water is really something. • Although microwave LED screen doesn’t work (it never has) the unit works fine. • Although the stove and range lights and switches do not always seem to behave, this unit works well also. • Coffee maker works fine.
Salon• This layout has the Recliners on Port and Trundle on Stbd • Salon AC units – both forward and aft need to be replaced o The fact that 3 AC Units total need to be replaced will certainly be considered in the sale price.
Master Stateroom / Head• AC unit was replaced a few years back • Head motor and all Dometic parts rebuilt, however bowl seal and ball needs to be replaced
Bridge & Aft-deck• Bridge electronics (GPS and Radar) will either need to be serviced or replaced. Neither has functioned consistently well in 2 seasons. Have spoken with local marine contact who said he may either be able to service or have these same items in storage. With them being 19 years old – if I was the new owner, I would simply update these units. • Both Bridge and Aft Deck massive AC units work well. Lightly used over the years as I have only had twin 50-amp service a few times. • Aft Deck Hard Top has some soft fiberglass. Not creating any issues – however will need to be addressed at some point.
Engine Room• Having kept this space warm year-round for 15 years, most components show better than the average 506. A local Volvo dealer made that comment a couple of years back. • All batteries are premium, well maintained, and strong. • Added a Magnum Power Systems Inverter Charger which is exceptional and blows the originally equipment out of the water. Charges fast, dis-charges slow and is tied to AGM batteries. • Need to confirm the date but new Freshwater Pump (I believe November 2017)
I am the second owner of this 506. Any work ever done on any component especially the engines, transmissions and generator has involved factory only materials (i.e. Volvo oil, filters, etc). Having lived-aboard first a 40 foot Carver now this 506 – I am very well versed on every nuance of this unique design. With all chain, the Fortress, awesome Inverter/Charger and AGM house batteries, we have anchored out hundreds of nights all over the Bay. In the event the new owner will be a live-aboard, I would be more than happy to help get them ready for 12months of the year operation in any climate and share maintenance learnings/strategy if new owner plans on doing any/all of the work themselves.
