The FREEBIRD is a 1991/2015 54 Sportsman/Blackwell. This unique- 3 owner boat features a 3 Stateroom/2 Head layout, continuous upgrades- including a mezzanine, huge freezer, and huge ice hold. The FREEBIRD boasts a legendary sea keeping ability that is usually found in larger hulls...unbelievably soft and dry.
This is the last hull of the famous Omie Tillet/Sportsman hulls. She has a cruise of 30kts at an economical 70 GPH. An extensive refit was completed by Blackwell in 2015 that includes a Mezzanine with a huge Freezer, electric grill, ice storage, electronics, and much more! Another major refit in Nov 2016 included major engine service, Stone Galley Countertops and more. The hull and hardtop undersides were repainted in 2017 and the boat has just completed 1000 service on both motors.

The salon has a traditional galley-up arrangement with an "L" shape sofa to port with ultra-leather fabric and storage below. Her natural satin finished golden teak interior gives this boat a very classic and bright look.
A new 50" Plasma screen TV was installed on the starboard side with a full view in the salon. Window treatments feature Hunter Douglass Silhouette blinds. The salon also features a new Scotsman icemaker and new carpeting throughout.
The galley up arrangement has 4 new under counter pull-out drawer refrigerator / freezer drawers, amtico teak pattern flooring, a full size GE convection/microwave oven behind a pocket door, three-burner stove and a double bowl sink.
This 54' sport fisherman offers a unique 3 stateroom/2 head layout-rarely found in a custom boat of this size. To port, the master offers a fore/aft queen size bed. The head is forward with full size stall shower, Amtico Teak pattern flooring and Corian tops.
A guest stateroom, with stacked bunks is positioned on the starboard side with a hanging locker and storage below the lower bunk. Additional storage is found below the sole.

The guest head is on the starboard side with a full stall shower, teak and holly flooring and a Corian vanity top.
The forward stateroom has a full size "V" berth, two hanging lockers, three drawers below the bed and a new LCD TV with dedicated new Direct TV receiver.
In 2006 a new Bausch Tuna Tower was installed at Jarrett Bay Boatworks in NC.
Bridge includes a three-sided EZ2CY enclosure, 44' three-spreader Rupp outriggers with center rigger, with an 8' gap, new LED spreader lights (2012) and Miya Epoch X-9 teaser reels.
Bridge is equipped with 2 Release teak helm chairs, with foot rests and 4" pedestals. Teak helm pod has single lever controls, stainless steel wheel and pop-up electronics console. The bridge offers seating forward of the console, as well as seating to port, all seating has storage below. A P.O.P. 34ft removable Greenstick was installed on the Bridge in 2015
Freebird is powered with twin 12V 1000hp MAN Diesel engines, fitted with ZF transmissions at a 1.75:1 ratio. Shaft logs are dripless with full stainless running gear.
This boat was previously owned by a MAN authorized dealer and has had numerous updates and upgrades to the engines beginning in April of 2013.
Starboard main engine was completely rebuilt in December of 2016 (currently ~1300 hours total Since Major Overhaul).
Port motor was completely replaced in 2013 including block, crankshaft and heads (currently ~3050 hours Since Replacement).
Both motors have recently received 1000 hour service (2018).
Teak covering boards and teak coaming were replaced in 2010. There are a total of six no-bolt rod holders in the covering boards. There is a full size transom tuna door and a large transom Carolina-style fish box that is also plumbed as a Live Well if desired. Very large in Deck Fishbox with Eskimo Ice dump and Macerator pump. New Mezzanine with Huge Freezer and Electric Grill as well. This boat is ready to fish.
