I would like to introduce you to a very rare sailing vessel built by the well known American Marine Ltd. company who now build Grand Banks. Labelled the Magellan M35 she is now for sale in the Pacific Northwest. She shines from stem to stern and really does show off the beautiful build and truly exemplifies the quality of the materials that went into her. The current owners show their pride in owning this special sloop. Over the years they have shown her off and consistently received exceptional comments about her beautiful lines. The history of the Magellan 35 began in 1956 as American Marine, Ltd. - Founder Robert J. Newton and his sons, John and Whit, were running a custom boatyard in Hong Kong. They were building solid sailboats and big motor yachts designed by the world’s top marine architects –Grand Banks Yachts began its journey in 1956 with the Magellan series. Designed by Allan Eldredge and Walter McInnis (Eldredge-McInnis). This series included the M35, M39 & M46. Magellan ll Is hull #11 out of 13 built. This lovely built sailboat begins with solid Philippine Mahogany planking, solid teak decks, hand rubbed Burmese teak used to create the beautiful interior, all finished with exceptional joiner work. Exterior displays bronze and copper everywhere which include all the winches, bronze pulpit & pushpit, stanchions and lifelines but put together by craftsmanship rarely found today. Magellan ll is a solid safe sailing vessel unlike what you find out there with many modern production boats. 2004-2008 the vessel went through a major restoration project. All the sails replaced by Carol Hasse, new electrical marine wiring, solar system, updated plumbing, new fuel tanks this year, custom engine gauges built in Chicago, teak decks all redone, exterior hull painted, custom davits and a 5 pieces winter cover/summer shade. The bow name plates are all hand carved and then inlaid with gold leaf-($5,000). A custom hard dodger was designed by Bill Garden to match the boat. This protected cockpit is a fantastic living space to sail from or to just stretch out in and relax while sitting at anchor. She takes you back in time in a heartbeat. Magellan II is a beautiful classic sailboat that must be seen.
