The Pearson Vanguard is a wonderfully sturdy cruising boat with a classic design. This boat is always in demand by traditional sailors who appreciate a rugged, reliable cruiser. In addition, she is ideal for the beginning sailor or the small cruising family. Designed by the great Philip Rhodes with a full keel, cutaway forefoot and keel attached rudder, she has the tried and true DNA of all his popular and successful designs.
My Girlunderwent a total re-fit and re-power in 2014 and 2015 and has all the equipment she needs and is ready to go cruising! Virtually everything on this boat has been replaced or upgraded during the re-fit.
She features a new diesel engine and an updated, practical layout which results in easy handling for a minimum crew or to single-hand. The inclusion of a new AC system makes her ideal for day sailing on the bay and summer weekends at the dock.
In addition, My Girl has been re-fit with “off the grid” extended cruising in mind. The DC electrical layout allows for enough solar power to maintain four batteries, one battery which is dedicated solely to the motor and three batteries which are dedicated to interior lighting and fans, as well as the mast head navigation lights. All lights are LED and the fans require minimum electricity. With sufficient sun light, 'off the grid' cruising is sustainable for weeks at a time. In the event of insufficient sun light, the diesel engine will power all batteries with approximately half a gallon of diesel utilized per hour.
"Off the grid" cruising and extended stays at anchor are further enhanced by the utilization of an over-sized anchor and upgraded chain and rode. As well as a composting head which requires no pump-out equipment and the use of an alcohol stove which frees you from hunting for propane bottle refills at remote locations.
This is a beautiful, ocean-going boat with wonderful sailing characteristics, quality construction, with the feel of a much bigger vessel. Now it is your time to own and enjoy a classic.

The salon features a bulkhead mounted table which opens up the salon when the table is not in use. Both settees are comfortable for lounging and double as good seaberths. Large windows provide excellent light inside and visibility while looking out. There are four LED light fixtures and three fans in the salon, as well as two, five foot teak handrails running along the top of the cabin and two, four foot teak handrails running beneath the windows.
The head features a remodeled vanity with mahogany cupboards, shelves and there are two LED lights and one fan. The commode is a Natures Head composting toilet which is vented. There is no odor emitted from a Natures Head and the occasional emptying is simple and easily performed. Large storage shelves are opposite the head.
The forward cabin has a large V-berth with mahogany shelving above them running down each side with two LED light fixtures and two fans. The nav station is to starboard of the companionway and features a Standard Horizon multimedia chart plotter on a custom Ram mount.
