The hull is heavily constructed throughout with a six-inch single length Oregon Pine keel capped with hardwood; also, hardwood stem, horn timber, all floor timbers, etc. The frame is of steam bent oak 2 x 2 ½ “ spaced eleven-inch centers and the planking of 1 ½” Port Orford White Cedar. Double thickness watertight bulkheads have been built into the hull at the points designated on the drawing and also between the crew’s quarters and galley with watertight door. These watertight bulkheads, all main partitions are erected first on the keel, all fore and aft stringers mortise tight therein and an extra heavy steam bent oak frame placed directly around the outer edge of such bulkheads and partitions, thus when the frames, stringers, bulkheads and partitions are thoroughly bolted together, the boat is tied securely at these important points.
The engine frame and fore and aft bedplates are all of teak. The transom is framed with oak with reinforcing members moulded to fit within the outer rim. The outer rim is of heavy teak log rabbitted to take the teak planking on the stern.
