The Explorer 760 is the latest addition to the Matrix Yachts range. It is an offshoot of the highly
successful Silhouette 760 and is intended to cater to the adventurous sailor who wants to
explore exotic locations in the comfort and luxury of space that large sailing catamarans
provide. The yachts main living and entertainment area is a modern minimalistic open plan
The finishes in the Explorer have been carefully chosen to minimize weight and the upkeep of
the yacht. The reduced weight increases the already spectacular performance of its 76ft hulls
plus it reduces the size of the engines needed. In most conditions two hundred mile plus daily
runs on passages will be able to be achieved with ease. With the recommended Yanmar 100
HP engines the yacht will have a range in excess of 2,000 nm under power.
Once again Matrix Yachts have used their trademark intelligent use of space to provide
spectacular en-suite cabins for 10 or 12 guests plus 4 crew. The luxury of space will be felt
throughout the yacht. An enviable feature of the yacht is that its Queen sized beds are able to
be parted to become two single beds so as to best cater for the guest needs of the time.
To enable the crew to provide the level of service expected on a yacht of this stature a large
well equipped galley has been positioned on the bridge deck level. It has ample refrigeration,
plenty of work space and lots of storage cupboards, allowing for the crew to cater to the guests
The spacious salon is tastefully appointed with a large lounge area that has 360 views of the
surroundings. The yacht has two generously appointed crew cabins that are located in the
forward section of the hulls. Both have en-suite bathrooms and ample storage.
The laundry and store room, which is accessed through the Captain’s cabin, is fitted with
commercial grade laundry equipment. This reduces the dependency of the yacht on shore side
services and increases the onboard facilities available to the guests.
In keeping with the Matrix Yachts way of thinking and their simplistic designs, a large open fly
bridge has been incorporated where all sailing operations are performed from a central point.
This reduces the number of crew needed to sail the yacht and increases safety to everybody
Hull # 1 of this new range is well underway and is expected to be launched in November 2013.
The normal build time for an Explorer is about 14 months.
