Second Thought is a one-owner, professionally-maintained and lightly-used Grand Banks motoryacht, that has cruised the Salish Sea and called the Pacific Northwest home since her delivery four years ago. Equipped for long-distance cruising, Second Thought's option list includes bow and stern thrusters, flybridge hardtop, comprehensive Garmin navigational electronics, watermaker, washer and dryer and much more. Annual servicing has just been completed and she is ready to take her new owners on the adventure of a lifetime.
The Grand Banks Aleutian 53 is the ultimate luxury motoryacht for three couples or a family of six. Designed with three decks, it features a fully-covered aft deck, salon, dining area, galley and pilothouse on the main deck. The accommodations level includes three staterooms, two heads, utility room and entrance to the engine room. Finally, the bridge deck includes a covered flybridge, entertaining and dining area, and utility deck with davit for storing a tender or water toys.
Boarding from the teak-covered integral swim platform, guests ascend three steps to the fully-covered aft deck with room for entertaining a small crowd or just relaxing. Forward through glass sliding doors is the salon with seating for eight, entertainment center with Bose Surround Sound and LCD color television. A U-line Ice Maker is conveniently tucked away under the staircase to the flybridge. Up three steps is the galley, dining area and pilothouse helm. The galley to starboard is equipped with premium-quality four drawer refrigerator/freezer, cooktop, convection/microwave, sink and abundant teak cabinetry. To port is the dining table that accommodates six guests; to starboard is a watertight door leading to the covered side decks and Portugese bridge. Amidship is the lower helm station with Stidd Admiral helm seat. Quality teak joinery, premium fabrics and finely-crafted stone surfaces are found throughout Second Thought.
Descending a semi-circular staircase from the pilothouse leads to the accommodations level. The owner's stateroom is amidship and features a full queen-size berth, ensuite head with Tecma electric freshwater toilet and walk-in shower, three cedar-lined full-height hanging lockers, and six oversized storage drawers. Large hull windows bathe the master stateroom in sunlight. The VIP stateroom is located forward and has a centerline queen berth, two cedar-lined hanging lockers, four storage drawers, and direct access to the shared head, also with Tecma electric freshwater toilet and walk-in shower. A third stateroom with upper and lower bunks is perfect for children, teenagers or occasional guests. Unique to this size motoryacht is a walk-through utility room that houses separate Ariston washer and dryer, Waeco top-loading freezer and pantry storage.
Shipboard entertainment systems include a Bose Surround Sound AV48 Theater System with KVH satellite TV receiver and 32" LCD TV in the salon, plus independent Pioneer AVH-P4200 Stereo DVD systems for each stateroom. The master stateroom also has a wall-mounted 28" LCD television networked to the satellite receiver.
Atop the yacht is the bridgedeck complete with factory-installed hardtop. The upper helm station includes a Stidd Admiral helm chair for the ultimate comfort while underway. Aft of the helm station is open seating for eight plus a teak dining table. Separating the entertainment area from the utility deck is a bar unit housing a sink with hot-and-cold water and Isotherm undercounter refrigerator. Finally, the Utility Deck provides secure storage for the Zodiac 10' RBI tender with Honda 4-stroke outboard as well as a Steelhead Marine SMR-1000 1000-lb Davit for deploying and retrieving the tender and any manner of shipboard toys you choose to outfit her with.
The U-shaped galley is located on the bridgedeck adjacent to the dinette and convenient to the helm. Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer drawers are integrated into the aft-facing base cabinets along with a Sharp microwave oven and a Miele four-burner ceramic cooktop. Overhead cabinets offer generous storage for china, glassware and foodstuffs. The forward-facing peninsula houses the extra-deep stainless steel sink, water filtration system and numerous drawers and lockers for cookware storage. Finally, a separate chest-of-drawers adjacent to the dinette houses silverware, table linens and a host of other cruising 'necessities'.
The teak-capped swim platform is an integral part of the hull and is protected by three 3" diameter removable staple rails. Three steps up, the fully-covered, teak-planked aft deck is sized to accommodate deck furniture, a dining table, exercise equipment or just about anything you can imagine. Wide covered side decks, protected by raised gunwales and welded stainless steel handrails, make movement around the boat safe and convenient. Forward of the pilothouse on the main deck is a waist-high Portugese bridge designed to dissipate the energy of breaking waves in heavy seas. Gates on either side of the Portugese bridge give access to the foredeck for line-handling or operating the Lofrans Falcon windlass.
Second Thought is designed with interfaced AC and DC Electrical systems which are operated from a circuit breaker panel located in the salon for easy access. Major components include:
