The hull is made of sandwich fiberglass/balsa, using the vacuum infusion technique : unidirectional and complex quadri-axial and UD glass-fabrics infused with vinylester resin, and impregnated, vertical balsa to ensure further lightness and strength. The vinylester resin and gel coat suppress osmosis.
The lead, antimony hardened keel is attached with stainless steel bolts. The rig, with its keel stepped mast, is also part of the structure and the interconnected chain plate tie rods ensure a perfect distribution of mechanical and dynamic loads throughout the yacht. Every element of rigging and deck equipment, all electrical and mechanical systems have been studied in collaboration with the best manufactures, and carefully installed by highly experienced specialists. The Centurion 40S cockpit is designed to be multipurpose. There is space for efficient crew maneuvers and comfortable seating and entertainment. The entire cockpit can be enclosed. She is easily short handed with her efficient deck layout, including 2 ea. 52.2 Anderson self tailing primary winches and 2 ea. 46.2 Anderson self tailing secondaries. All control lines are run aft to the cockpit. She has a patented opening transom platform for easy access to a tender or dock (see photo). Her teak slatted bench seats and gangway are ergonomically designed for comfort and stunning good looks. Calm, luxury, and comfort best describe the Centurion 40S interior. Waxed teak, stainless steel, glass and composite materials work together to form a truly luxurious interior. The L-shaped galley is to starboard of the companionway. The head with large separate shower stall is to port. Forward of the head is the Nav station. The main saloon with a large folding table is forward of the galley. Aft of the galley is a very large double quarter berth. The V-berth is forward with a double bunk with a new custom made memory foam mattress. There are numerous opening ports and hatches which provide both light and ventilation. The owner had an additional port installed in the aft cabin (quarter berth). There are many well placed lockers throughout the vessel for more than adequate storage. Fittings and electrical lighting fixtures are all very high quality. There is a propane cabin heater as well as reverse cycle air conditioning. All light bulbs have been changed to LED’s for low voltage draw and longevity.
The L shaped galley is equipped with a double stainless steel sink. There are salt and fresh water foot pumps and an Emerson microwave oven. There is a 2 burner Eno gimbaled stainless steel stove with oven and plenty of storage for utensils, dishes and dry goods. There is a Fridgiboat refrigerator with a totally separate freezer unit.
