The Pricing Issue
Because of its experience, quality of materials, manufacturing processes and corporate infrastructure, most Grady-White boats are in the top tier price point. The Canyon 271 FS is no exception. Given the economic times, increasingly consumers are comparing features and standard equipment and asking themselves if the Grady-White model is worth the up-charge.
That is a question we cannot answer, but we can shed some light on why Grady-Whites are priced as they are. First, it is a real company with management, engineers, quality control staff, and customer service associates at work every day.
Grady's Customer Relations staff, left to right: Carolyn Ray, Danny Davis, Bert Kelly, and Eddie Rowe. Their phone number is 252-752-2111, call them if you have a problem or a question.
This means that there is a staffing infrastructure to assure product quality and aftermarket service and support. But there is more. Grady-White's warranty means what it says and the company has a reputation for interpreting it in the owner's favor when there are gray areas. All of this, of course, is built into the price.
There Is A Difference
Many years ago the company got a bad batch of resin from its chemical supplier which got into a whole run of boats. When management discovered what had happened, each one of the boats built with that batch of resin was tracked down and replaced. Grady-White didn't hesitate to do the right thing before there was a complaint. This action stands in stark contrast to less consumer-friendly reactions we have seen from some other well-known builders over the years.
It is this kind of corporate depth and integrity upon which it is hard to put a dollar value. But it is there and it is built into the cost of every Grady-White boat as it must be. It is what separates Grady-White from boat builders with skeleton staffs and minimal infrastructure. Consumers must decide for themselves which way they want to go, but they should be aware that even if the boats look the same, what is behind them is usually not.

Manufacturer Provided Description
The interior of the Grady-White Express 360 is at an entirely new level. The space that results from not requiring an inboard engine room allows a cabin size that compares to the interior of a much larger sportfishing yacht. The 360 cabin offers every amenity to make the family comfortable, and the entire boat certainly entertains guests graciously in a very handsome setting." The cabin centerpiece is an attractive dinette area including a height adjustable teak table with booth-style seating for four. The king size forward vee berth is not only well appointed with lights and shelving, but closes off with a privacy curtain. The bulkhead between the forward vee berth and the main cabin area is accented with a teak divider and lighted glass etched art of a blue marlin. There is ample storage in the teak tambour enclosed cabinetry both above the dinette and over the galley. The entire cabin, from the vee berth captain's quarters to the 56" x 84" aft berth (also with privacy curtain), is cooled with a 16,000 BTU air conditioning unit with zone cooling. There is also variable lighting throughout the cabin. The entertainment area features a 15-inch flat screen TV with DVD player and cable TV inlet, plus a stereo/CD system and Sirius satellite radio capability. The Express 360 galley includes an electric glass top stove with two burners, a roomy freezer drawer with ice maker and a nice refrigerator drawer (similar to the refrigerator/freezer drawers found on custom yachts), and a deep, divided stainless steel sink. There is also a very good quality microwave oven. Countertops are surfaced with durable Corian.
Entering the cabin immediately to the port side is the large galley area with Corian counters, plenty of storage and separate U-Line refrigerator and freezer drawers, two burner cooktop and stainless dual bowl sinks. Across to starboard is a cavernous size head and shower with Vacu-Flush style head with a vanity and a large separate enclosed shower stall. Aft of the galley and head is a full beam mid ship aft cabin that is huge and can sleep two large adults comfortably. It has on the port side a unique pull put hanging locker. The aft cabin area offers added storage and overhead rod storage. Back to the main salon across from the galley is the convertible dinette with beautiful hardwood table and leather seating. Outboard is storage and a teak storage area for charts and books. Along the starboard side and forward of the dinette is a beautiful etched glass panel that lights up and displays the etching. All the way forward is the large forward V berth. Large with two drawers aft and under the berth the forward cabin is very comfortable. Along the port side is a TV cabinet that allows the TV to be stored. When used, the TV will pull out and swivel so viewing is available aft. There is a built in DVD player as well. Overhead are two Bomar hatches for fresh air and ventilating the salon.
