Now in it's fourth year of production, the Hunt 33 Express was conceived as a day boat, a weekender, and a commuter. The slender hull has a sweet traditional sheer. The cabin encloses over six feet of headroom, the side decks are comfortably wide, and the windshield is tall enough to accept a soft top or hardtop without unsightly filler panels. The most innovative feature of the 33 is its great performance with single diesel power. By keeping the weight down, the 33 gets the kind of performance most people want but with less power. Reducing weight cuts cost too. The current generation of small high output diesels make it possible for the 33 to weigh only 10,000 lbs. Ready for the sea, the 33 will make a top speed of 30 knots and cruise comfortably at 25 knots. At 20 knots, range will be over 200 miles on only 125 gallons of fuel. By incorporating a partial tunnel, and utilizing a smaller diameter high area five-bladed prop, the draft has been reduced to three feet. A large strut / skeg was designed to protect the prop and rudder. The generous rudder area and standard bow thruster ensure good low speed handling and maneuverability. The hull is a full deadrise deep-V, with an extra fine entry for a very soft, dry ride. Wide chines aft provide for good stability at rest. The Hunt 33 Express is definitely the latest refinement of the deep-V incorporated into a practical 30-footer. Belowdecks, the joinery is traditional white with varnished cherry trim. Accommodations below include: V-berths and a hanging locker; galley with sink, DC refrigeration, lockers, cutlery drawer and trash basket; enclosed head with vanity, sink, shower and toilet; a dinette that converts to a third bunk with stowage underneath. On the bridgedeck, a tasteful bit of teak trim has been added around the companionway. The console with helm seat is to starboard and a settee and dining table is to port. One step down aft is the 55-square-foot cockpit.
