The 49 Eastbay features a two stateroom, two head, galley down layout. The master stateroom is forward and features an island berth with a custom mattress, generous hanging lockers, drawer and cabinet storage and an ensuite head with Vacuflush toilet, stall shower and vanity with sink and a teak framed beveled mirror. A floor length beveled mirror is framed in teak trim at foot of the island berth. The master cabin has one A/C zone with Marine Air digital control located in the cabin. An additional air handler from the master cabin A/C is located in the guest cabin.
The guest stateroom is to port and features twin berths, a large hanging locker, drawer and cabinet storage and a beveled mirror trimmed with teak. A teak pocket door for the guest stateroom saves space and provides privacy. A Dynex 16 inch flat screen television is mounted with an articulating bracket in guest stateroom. Opposite the guest stateroom to starboard is a head with VacuFlush toilet, vanity, sink and teak framed beveled mirror and shower with curtain.
Natural lighting and ventilation is provided by overhead hatches in master, guest and salon, all with screens and shades. Twin dorad vents also provide natural air in the guest stateroom and the guest head. Eight cabin side portholes add additional lighting and ventilation with screens and interior draperies. All cantaloupe lighting was upgraded to LED a few years ago. Companionway, guest head, and galley task lighting feature LED tri-lites (red, white, and blue). Grand Banks reading lamps are mounted on bulkheads in the master, guest stateroom and salon.
Beautiful teak and holly cabin soles add a touch of warmth to a very comfortable living space.
The Galley is to port and has a Princess 3-burner electric stove with oven and sea rails with pot holders. Frigiboat refrigeration was installed new in 2010 in the three Grand Banks ice boxes, two under the counter and one with a top load. Digital control and readout panels for refrigeration are located in a position to be monitored from the salon settee and helm. With the Frigiboat digitally controlled units, each unit is temperature controlled individually and can be set at freezer temps or refrigerator temps, the choice is yours.The units are capable of subzero settings. A Sharp microwave is in an overhead cabinet. A top load pantry is opposite the top load ice box. The Galley features an abundance of storage, including a glass front bottle locker with teak shelves for glassware. For easy cleanup, there is a double stainless sink with Grohe faucet.
Opposite the galley is the salon area featuring a U-shaped eight foot settee with newer upholstery. Very generous storage is beneath the settee. A drop leaf teak table with bottle storage beneath sits in the center of the settee. There is also storage in the table top. A built-in book case is located above the back of the settee. The Salon and galley area have one A/C zone with Marine Air digital control in the salon. A new Samsung 29 inch flat screen television (2013) was installed on articulating bracket allowing it to be safely secured in the TV cabinet with a sliding teak tambour door. All of the televisions are currently connected to the KVH G4 satellite antenna and a single Direct TV receiver. Rounding out the entertainment package is a new (2013) Pioneer App Radio located in one of the two teak cabinets behind salon settee. Three M-Mats power amps drive 16 total speakers throughout the boat divided into six zones with volume controls for each zone. Steps leading out to the helm deck provide more storage and the house batteries.
The beautiful helmdeck of this 49 HX is enclosed in glass forward, and in polycarbonate aft. Remove the polycarbonte and you'll have open air. A large L-shaped settee is on the port aft side of the helm deck with a teak table center of the settee. A single four foot bench seat is to starboard. A “traveling” (can be easily relocated to master cabin) Sharp 20 inch flat screen television is located on top of small cabinet in starboard aft corner. All helm deck seating has storage beneath. You'll find yourself surround by windows with great views no matter where on the helm deck you are!
Her helm seating is an elevated bench with storage beneath, and space for two. The Helm is to starboard and has drawer storage on the inboard side of seat. On the port side of the helm deck is another bench seat with yet more storage beneath. An ice maker is located on inboard side of port helm seat. Forward of the port helm seat is a chart locker with a chart light located overhead. A fold down bar cabinet with bottle storage is located forward of the port helm seat. All of the helm deck seating and cockpit seating was re-upholstered with ultra-leather a few years ago.
The large port and starboard windows can be easily opened by sliding. The center forward window opens electrically from the helm. All of the helm deck cabin windows have new (2016) black textilene window shade covers. Two overhead hatches, with screens and exterior covers, are located above port and starboard helm seats. Flush mounted lights were replaced with LED tri-lites, giving you the choice or red, white or blue. The held deck featuers two A/C zones with Marine Air digital controls located overhead. The helm deck sole is teak with a single deck hatch allowing stand up room in center of engine room.
The helm is to starboard and features a beautiful 29 inch high gloss varnished teak ships wheel. A Furuno NavNet 3 plotter and Furuno NavNet 1 radar displays are flush mounted in the teak helm cabinet. Between the radar and plotter displays is the Simrad AP2200 auto pilot control panel with a remote receptacle located to the outboard side of the helm. Caterpillar digital and analog displays are located center of helm just beneath the plotter and radar displays. A Ritchie Powerdamp compass is atop the electronics cabinet. There is also an ACR spot/flood light remote control panel, windshield wiper controls, Bennett trim tab controls, Maxwell 2200 windlass breaker, and remote control panel and DC power outlet are located outboard side of helm. The helm also has a camel colored canvas cover.
All AC and DC breakers, with the exception of electronics and some engine room systems are located on the inboard side of the helm with a glass front, lockable cabinet door. Electronics circuit breakers are located overhead in a dedicated panel. Raymarine TriData displays are flush mounted overhead (two ST80’s and two ST60’s with one dedicated to wind speed. A remote key pad for the TriData displays is located just beneath the auto pilot control panel. ICOM 504 VHF (new2013) is also located overhead with hailing horn hidden in the starboard side dorade box
The cockpit has teak decking and teak treads on the port and starboard steps and steps leading into the helm deck. A walk in engine room hatch is center beneath a bench cockpit seat. A transom door, set to the starboard side leads out to a large teak swim platform with boarding ladder. This door when in open position gives great visibility aft from the helm when maneuvering in tight quarters. There are four flush mounted rod holders, on the port and starboard side. Under gunnel courtesy lights were replaced with LED tri-lites, along with an auxiliary 12V DC plug installed for independent overboard fish lights. 50AMP/220V shore power service is located beneath the port side boarding step and is managed by a Glendinning Cablemaster. Mounted on the transom are 800lb St. Croix Davit receivers. The davit arms are stowed in the lazarette in canvas bags.
A cockpit shade makes the cockpit a great place to hang out. It is very well designed and takes nothing away from the classic look of the Eastbay 49. The shade fabric was replaced with Stamoid and is in good condition. Three large deck hatches access abundant storage beneath the cockpit deck. The main fuel tank is located center aft with easy access to fuel valves. This tank holds 625 gallons. There is also a transfer tank forward that holds 135 gallons. The Jabsco transfer pump and breaker are located in the engine room.
Non-skid side decks and fore decks are painted. Freshly varnished teak toe rails and cove trim accent the deck and deck house. Dorade ventilation is port and starboard on fore deck trunk. Dorade boxes have been painted out white with teak tops and polished stainless scoops. Six twelve inch polished stainless cleats, three port and three starboard, provide secure docking. Polished stainless fairleads give access to the cleats amidships and forward. Cockpit cleats are accessed through transom and aft hull side hawse pipes. Polished stainless bow rails with port and starboard gates combined with the wide flat side decks make working the bow a breeze! A Maxwell 2200 windlass with fore deck foot controls, shackled up to a CQR60 and chain rode make anchoring effortless. A snub line with splice to chain hook is included. A remote control is located at the helm with the Maxwell circuit breaker.
On the hardtop is custom signal mast with spreaders and platform for the KVH G4 satellite antenna. The Furuno open array radar antenna is mounted just below the Satellite TV dome. The GPS and VHF antennas are mounted on the spreaders and navigational lights and wind antennas are at the top of the signal mast.There is also a GPS antenna on the hardtop for the upgraded Furuno NavNet 3. Dual Kahlenberg trumpets, ACR spot/flood light and varnished teak name boards (with covers) with Aqua Signal navigational lights are all that are mounted to the hardtop,giving her a very clean and balanced application of equipment. All navigational lighting is Aqua Signal.
Access the engine room from the cockpit, and with the helm deck hatch open, you can stand up in the center, regardless of your height. Teak flooring is great looking and functional between the motors. Three encased fluorescent lights brightly illuminate the entire engine room. Twin Caterpillar 3196 660-HP with just over 1850 hours have been serviced by a Caterpillar Technicians per CAT's specs. Oil changes have been performed on regular intervals. Primary fuel filtration is provided by dual Racor 900’s with vacuum gauges and CAT secondary filters. A single Racor is used on the generator as the primary fuel filter.
The Northern Lights 12kw generator is aft of the starboard main engine.
A Paragon Senior fresh water pump with Groco accumulator, A/C compressors (4), refrigerator compressors (3) and the Glenndinning Cablemaster machinery and shore cord storage tub are located outboard of the port main engine. There are Two March Sea water pumps to service the A/C units and one Groco water pump to service the refrigeration. Two 8D wet cell engine batteries are installed aft of port main in battery boxes. Inboard of the port main engine is the Reverso oil change pump and their selector valves.
The Sea Recovery Aqua Whisper 800 desalinator is modular by design and components of the unit are located on the forward bulkhead of the engine room and outboard of the starboard main engine. The Mariner Promatic battery charger is mounted on the bulkhead forward of the starboard main engine.
A Seaward water heater, generator battery, Jabsco fuel transfer pump, Kahlenberg air horn compressor (Thomas Electric) and accumulator tank, SeaStar air over hydraulic reservoir and steering fluid cooler are also installed outboard of starboard main engine. Steering fluid filter is remotely installed on the inboard side of the starboard main engine for easy service. All sea cocks and sea water strainers are Groco and have been routinely serviced. Port and starboard Delta T Systems with blowers provide filtered engine room ventilation.
