This Hull was originally built in 1986, completed and launched circa '88/89 but experienced a re-birth in 2001. Please see below. The Atlanta 32 is a modern motor Sailing Ketch with an extensive and easily handled Sail wardrobe and massivly powerful inboard diesel.
The Atlanta 32 is a well built and easily handled motor sailer, comfortable for extensive cruising.
Helming is possible from inside or out.
The owner reported then; We bought Aurora because the basic design was every thing we wanted but she needed extensive refurbishment, "AURORA" was sailed to Birdham Pool in West Sussex where she was completely stripped back to the bare hull and decking. She was then rebuilt by time served crafstmen and experienced shipwrights and engineers under strict project management of the experienced owners and the on going observation of a marine surveyor. Reports available.
She was re-launched on the 12th of May 2001. We have cruised the South Coast, NW France and the Channel Islands. Her long Keel and Bilge Plates ensure an easy motion and the ability to dry out and get away from the melee.
"AURORA" has taken us through 4 Gales and Big seas between 30 & 40 knots of wind. We can confirm that "Aurora" is sea kindly, does not bang or slap in a seaway. If setting the mainsail with a reef in and the engine running at 1000 rpm she will keep going through any sea we have come across.
Again in keeping with our 'belt and braces' attitude we chose 3 seperate steering systems to allow a safety margin, the cockpit wheel is directly on to the rudder stock, the internal is via Hydraulics and the Electric Autohelm is overly powerful.
We are only selling her because we need a bigger boat."
Michael Schmidt & partner then sold her on to a very careful owner who has 'pootled around the Solent and treated her carefully. As one would expect of a retired airline pilot !
Accomodation and Galley
Below she has the capacity for 6 berths in 3 seperate compartments, two forward single berths or double, a Double Dinette berth in the Saloon and room if required to have 2 berths in the wheel house( Not at present as not required).
A sink, a Gas 4 Burner cooker & Oven by SMEV, Work Surface and 12/24 V Waeco RD50E Refrigerator create a magnificent Galley boasting VETUS pressurised Hot and Cold water, this being provided by the engine and/or the Shore power system . In addition to service water a seperate pure water drinking tap with filter & outlet purifier is provided.
A seperate Heads with Electric Jabsco WC and 'wet' room is sited amidships with Hanging locker opposite. Dividing the Forepeak and Saloon.
The raised wheelhouse has two removable helmsmans seats and Chart Table. Access to the engine is via an easily raised Hatch in the floor.
The comforfortable and pleasent living experienced is enhanced by central heating via an Eberspacher D3LC system and Kenwood Radio and 6 CD player.
This truly is a boat to liveaboard with home comforts. We can think of no better vessel to carry us through France and the vineyards !
This boat enjoys all the equipment internally and externally, needed to set of and go. See pictures
