From her gel coat exterior to her handcrafted interior the Grand Banks 58 Classic takes on-board comfort to a new level. Her long list of standard equipment insures that she does not leave luxury and practicality behind when she leaves the dock. Drawing from the three decade heritage of the Grand Banks line, she offers new dimensions of practical luxury in a yacht designed for cruising. The GB58 was developed in consultation with the naval architectural firm, FRYCO. She shares the same full keel semidisplacement hull design found on all Grand Banks. This proven hull, with a deep forefoot and hard chines aft, offers excellent stability and sea handling characteristics while also providing underwater protection for the shafts, propellers, and rudders. A further benefit of this hull design is the amount of usable space for accommodations below the main deck level. The 200-square-foot master stateroom is aft, offering a walk-around king-size berth, a large walk-in hanging locker and a spacious head featuring a bath tub. Stairway access to this private stateroom is from the main saloon. Guest accommodations are forward of the engine room. A teak stairway from the pilothouse leads to this area which offers two staterooms, two full heads and a utility room with a washer and dryer. The forward stateroom, with its private head, can easily be modified to house crew. Engine room access is gained through a unique engine room door in the utility room. The utility room can be modified for those needing a fourth stateroom. The tasteful use of teak is evident throughout, brought to new heights in the main saloon. With room for full-scale entertaining, this area also provides well planned space for those planning to live aboard for extended periods. The galley is equipped with a four-burner electric range, oven, trash compactor, microwave oven, double sink, garbage disposal and an ice maker. Two refrigerators and a freezer operate using a holding plate system. Storage is abundant and Du Pont Corian countertops provide durable, practical, and elegant work surfaces. Stepping forward into the pilothouse confirms the GB58's heritage. Visibility from the adjustable helm seat is excellent with instruments, controls, and electronics all within easy reach. Providing easy access to the flybridge from the pilothouse is a fully enclosed staircase. Equipped with duplicate controls and instruments, the addition of electronics will make this area the choice of many captains when the time comes to man the controls. The extended bridge offers more than enough space for guests, cruising gear, and dinghies. Most mechanical gear is housed in the large engine room. The engines, generators, fuel tanks, and the refrigeration and air conditioning compressors are laid out with access in mind. The extensive use of sound deadening materials minimizes external noise. The no-nonsense design of the Grand Banks 58 has safety built in. Numerous grab rails, hand rails, and stainless steel safety rails make moving about the interior and exterior of the 58 quick and easy. Her wide side decks and flush deck layout help make line handling easy for those aboard.
