Can Pyron and her owners set off in August 2001 on a cruise taking them to Tenerife, the Cape Verde islands, the Turks and Caicos islands and from there to Maine and Nova Scotia. They then re-crossed the Atlantic via the Azores, and visited Ireland before heading down the West coast of France and through the Canal du Midi to the Mediterranean. They spent some time there before bringing Can Pyron back to her home port of Calstock on the Tamar River.
The steel hull was built in 1997 by John Thomas of Morvoren Seacraft in Cornwall - one of the finest small steel boat craftsmen in the country at that time. She has been coated inside and out with epoxy paint in the workshop. She has been fitted out by her owners with longevity and comfort being prime targets. All woodwork is primed with West epoxy and where painted it is finished in two part Jotun paints.
