The concept behind the Corsair 3600 was to build a cruising catamaran that would incorporate the practical sailing lessons learned during Corsair's 12 years of operation and hands on analysis of race and ocean proven designs. Combined with that are the latest materials, construction methods and styling. The Corsair 3600 has been engineered without compromise. Safety factors are built in. Vacuum-bagged foam sandwich construction is used throughout for its stiffness, excellent impact resistance, insulation-floatation properties and most importantly it's non-water absorption and anti-rot qualities. All interior furniture further reinforces the hull and distributes the loads more evenly, resulting in a light, robust craft with outstanding dependability. The rig is a well-proven, highly efficient fractional design, strongly stayed with all control lines leading to the cockpit. Speed, acceleration and maneuverability make the Corsair 3600 a delight to handle under power or sail. The helm is always light and responsive and tacking is dinghy-like. When taking it easy under sail, speeds of 7 to 9 knots to windward and 10 to 15 knots reaching are comfortably achieved, greatly increasing your daily cruising range. You will be amazed at the effortless control and how safe and secure your family feels (above or belowdecks), while maintaining high speed averages. Ostac-designed catamarans and trimarans have competed in offshore and inshore races with respectable success. They have survived severe storm conditions (70+ knots) for days at a time without structural damage. The base structure is unsinkable, and enhanced by the inclusion of bow, stern and underfloor watertight compartments. The overall accommodation has been carefully designed with the cruising sailor in mind. All facilities (galley, toilet, shower) can be used while underway due to the very low heeling angle. The foam sandwich construction insulates the boat for cooler summers and warmer winters. Condensation is virtually eliminated. The saloon is semicircular and seats eight adults around the table (fitted with a foldaway leaf), which is a beautifully crafted piece of timber furniture. All-round vision while seated in the saloon is an excellent feature allowing easy surveillance under all conditions. Three bright and airy double berths in separate cabins have their own lockers, cupboards, ventilation hatches and windows. The large galley has plenty of windows, ventilation hatch, four-burner stove, refrigeration, cupboards and drawers, and has direct access to the saloon. Bathroom facilities are on the bridgedeck therefore self-draining for the shower), in fully moulded modules complete with windows, ventilation hatches, vanity, toilet and hot shower. Another feature is the navigation area which incorporates the chart table and switchboard (all circuit breakers with battery condition and amp meter). Quality workmanship and the finest materials provide the luxury and prestige expected of this world class yacht. COCKPIT - DECK AREA: Space and lack of heel encourage the crew to lounge in the forward nets, watching the bows slice through the water. This area can also be used for sunbathing or sleeping under the stars. Seating for four is built into the forehead wing deck and is also a favourite spot. The self draining cockpit has lockers each side and will seat eight adults. QUALITY: Interior and exterior finish is to a very high standard and only the finest materials are used. But quality goes much deeper than the visible finish (structural design, in-built safety features, construction materials, deck hardware, rig design and engineering, sails engines, etc.) and it is the integrity of these components that provides true quality. The world's largest charter company, Moorings, has selected the Corsair 3600 for use in the South Pacific and Australia. VALUE: In a market full of look-a-like traditional yachts, low resale values have made new conventional sailboats a risky venture. But with a unique, technically advanced, high-quality product like the Corsair 3600, a very high resale value can be expected. Multihulls are the new trend in sailing, so come aboard and discover why our Corsair 3600 is the leading example .
