ELSA is a single screw long range trawler built by Kuipers-Woudsend BV in the Netherlands. The builder is well known for bigger, yacht-quality workmanship and this small 50 ft is no exception. All systems, insulated steel fabrication and interior finish work, exhibit impeccable attention to detail, function and luxury. Pages and pages of existing spare parts (all new), and redundant systems all but guarantee a confident cruising vessel of the highest standards. Duties have been paid, registered in a single asset foreign corporation. Two stateroom layout provides comfortable accommodations. All records, manuals, drawings, recent surveys and safety inspection reports are available on-board.
Construction is welded steel with bilge stationary roll control fins and a power hydraulic active stabilizer system, hydraulic bow thruster, and fly-bridge and pilot-house hydraulic servo steering and engine controls.
ELSA is equipped far beyond the normal, with many redundant machinery and electronic installations. General appearance is to the highest professional quality.
Bottom has been stripped and refreshed with three (3) coats of epoxy paint July 2015.
This quality built vessel shows exemplary professional care and upkeep, both externally and internally. Vessel accessible internal areas are dry and well preserved. Hull topsides, transom and bottom coatings have been kept in excellent condition. Vessel is routinely dry-docked and bottom paint coats kept in excellent condition, with no exposure of metal and adequate protection to prevent electrolytic action. The bottom plating is fair and smooth.
The entire engine space and installations therein show exceptional care, upkeep and cleanliness. Exhaust systems are kept in as new condition.
Forward and moving aft is the on-deck chain locker and Portuguese bridge, followed below by the forward air-conditioned cabin with port and starboard single berths, hanging locker, and an ensuite head with stall shower.
Aft and down is a large starboard closet and the master stateroom follows with centerline double berth, large closets and an ensuite head with stall shower.
Up starboard steps is the pilot-house with centerline helm control and all necessary engine controls and instruments. In the pilot-house there are port and starboard main deck doors, a central helm chair and a small settee to port, and to starboard are stairs up to the flying bridge, with necessary engine controls and instruments, and boat deck aft with two bench seats, tender and safety equipment.
Down from the pilot-house is the galley to port and clothes washer/dryer to starboard. The saloon follows with bar and entertainment center to starboard and a large U-shaped dinette to port. Outside is the cockpit with seating/storage compartments, transom door and swim step and shower. There are two hatches with access to the lazarette and engine room.
ELSA is a high-level motor-yacht, built like a small ship with heavy duty 220 Volt AC and 24 Volt DC power system, much superior to the 110 Volt AC and 12 Volt DC systems used on lesser boats. The ELSA power systems were designed to power extensive amenities, including five (5) air conditioning units, five (5) refrigerators/freezer, oven, range, water heater, washer/dryer, dive compressor, satellite communications systems, etc.
The motor-yacht ELSA has been designed for word-wide travel and has state-of-the-art power systems that can connect to shore power anywhere in the world or generate its own AC and DC power in any operational condition.
Incoming shore-power first goes to an isolation transformer, which allows wiring for any source of AC power and protects the vessel from external anomalies. ELSA is presently set up for 220 Volt AC 50 amp shore power, which is readily available in marinas world-wide, including the US. From the isolation transformer, the incoming AC power goes to the Atlas solid-state AC/AC convertor, the output is 220 Volt AC 50 Hz, stabilized even if shore power varies.
ELSA also has a 19 KW 220 Volt AC 50 HZ Kohler diesel-generator for when at anchor or underway.
In addition, ELSA has a Victron 3 KW invertor producing sine wave 220 Volt AC 50 Hz from the house batteries. The Victron invertor comes on automatically when no other source of AC power is available. The high capacity house batteries can be charged from AC power when available or a 3 KW generator driven by the main engine.
The power systems on ELSA are a source of standard reliable and safe power anywhere in the world under any condition. 220 Volt AC is the most universal AC power standard worldwide. 220 Volt AC equipment is available world-wide, including the US (major appliances in the US are 220 Volt AC).
ELSA comes with all the appliances. The larger built-in and mobile appliances are 220 Volt AC. Small appliances and electronics commonly use switching power supplies that can be plugged in directly into 110 to 250 Volt 50 to 60 HZ outlets. The ELSA electrical outlets are compatible with both the US standard blade plugs and the European round plugs. In addition, there are several wired-in and mobile transformers for 110 Volt AC only equipment.
