The PowerBoat Guide notes, "The Carver 42 has a spacious command bridge featuring comfortable seating for eight adults, and skippers will appreciate the intelligent layout of the console and its full instrumentation, as well as the raised helm seat which provides unobstructed visibility. A convenient cocktail table is ideal for on-the-bridge entertaining, sun lovers will enjoy the foredeck double-width padded sunlounge, as well as the roominess of the 42's large cockpit with a full 7 x 13-foot area providing the perfect environment for all types of open-air entertaining and dining. Belowdecks, the 42's plush salon is surprisingly spacious (6'4 MINIMUM headroom!) and resembles a luxurious hotel suite, with color-coordinated carpeting, upholstery and draperies, plus hand-rubbed teak bulkheads and trim".
This particular low time (less than 500 hours) example has had almost $50,000 spent on her since 2012 and shows very nicely today, vessel looks much newer than actual age. Note barely 25 hours on the Kohler 7.5kW genset installed just this year, fully enclosed cockpit and flybridge with new canvas in 2012, new exhaust elbows, new drive shaft seals, bottom painted in 2015, vessel just professionally detailed, much more.
Also note she's lying right downtown in a potentially transferable Sausalito Yacht Harbor slip (and it's a PRIME E Dock berth!); there's a very long wait to get a slip in the marina here so this is a material benefit if you're able to take advantage.
Master stateroom with centerline queen island berth forward, guest stateroom with double bert next aft starboard with head across to port. Continue aft to galley down and forward of salon; up four steps aft to spacious salon, far aft to large aft cockpit with ladder access to HUGE enclosed flybridge. Note interior shows almost as new, Marine Air Systems reverse cycle heat/air, at LEAST 6'4 headroom throughout.
Galley down with deep double sinks and hot/cold pressure water with one-touch faucet, disposal, dishwasher, three burner electric cooktop, Sharp microwave convection oven, Frigidaire full size upright refrigerator/freezer, U-Line ice maker. VacuFlush lectric head, big, comfortable tall sstall hower.
Si-Tex T-180 radar, Si-Tex Nav Aid 6000 plotter, Si-Tex SP70 autopilot, Impulse fishfinder, Data Marine depth sounder, Icom M-45 VHF radio, Icom I-55 VHF radio, two Ritchie magnetic compasses, ships clock, ships barometer. Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD stereo, Sylvania flat screen tv.
110V AC / 12V DC. Dual 50 amp shorepower service, Kohler 7.5 kW genset (just installed, 26 hours clocked), Pro Mariner battery charger, four batteries in two banks with parallel switch.
FRP semi-planning hull with cored decks with molded-in nonskid, sunpad forward, step-thru transom to swim platform with ladder. Note the flybridge design is one of the best I've ever seen on a boat this size; it's spacious, practical and ergonomically spot on.
Stainless steel stanchions with lifeline, eight thru-bolted mooring cleats, Seawolf electric windlass, 45 lb. CQR anchor with ample chain and line rode.
Low hours on twin fresh water cooled eight cylinder Crusader 330 hp engines with full instrumentation, Borg-Warner transmissions, 1 3/4" stainless steel shafts with bronze struts to four-bladed bronze props.
