Spirit of Avondale is a uniquely capable and comprehensively equipped cruising yacht. Her main distinguishing features are a pilothouse with inside steering station and a swing keel / lifting rudder that reduce her draft to just 2’6”. Inside steering can extend your sailing season and allows for comfortable navigation under cover in cool or damp weather. Shallow draft will allow you to find an anchoring spot even in crowded harbors. Most boats dragging their anchors will run aground before they get to you!
Spirit of Avondale is designed and equipped for cruising. She can sleep up to six persons, two in a private forward cabin, two in a private aft cabin and two in a convertible dinette area. Interior amenities include a head with shower, full galley with refrigeration and a light and airy salon with plenty of light from the wrap-around deckhouse windows. She has numerous opening hatches and ports for excellent ventilation as well as air conditioning for use dockside in sultry weather. Ease of handling underway is enhanced by an in-mast mainsail furling system, self-tending jib and electric anchor windlass.
This yacht has been sailed seasonally in southern New England waters by her long-time owner. She has been meticulously maintained and upgraded over the years and it shows. She has been stored ashore and covered each winter and spends summers docked at her owner’s residence.
Spirit of Avondale is reluctantly for sale due to the owner’s advancing age. If you’re interested in a truly unique and well-found yacht designed and equipped to increase your enjoyment of cruising, this unique yacht deserves your consideration.
