Contest 42 Ketch
The Eleonor, a by Dick Zaal designed first build of a total of 30 built Contest 42 ketch ships is impressive. The ship is huge robust and is extremely heavy build in full polyester and is wonderfully complete. The current owners have made an 8-year world trip with this ship and the ship is, with some minor modifications, still suitable to do a long trip again. She easily combines her good sailing capacity with a lot of comfort and is under all circumstances easy to manoeuvre. The ship is well maintained and has a classic and warm teak interior. There is a lot renewed on the ship before and during the world tour. The complete standing rigg was replaced in 1993 by an heavy duty rigg. The mast base is hereby fully restored and improved, a longtime Contest problem is thus a thing of the past. All Lead Sails were replaced in 2003. The large spacious center cockpit provides easy accommodation up to six adults and is sheltered by the fixed aluminum windows. The underwater ship is treated with 6 layers of epoxy, and the hull is beautifully painted with a 2-component lacquer in 2010. Also then the old teak deck is completely removed and returned to the original deklayout. Inside she offers with her 4 cabins and seven fixed and two additional beds a lot of living and sleeping space. All upholstery and cushions were replaced in 2004. The from inside accessible owner's cabin is spacious and has ample storage space. The galley is well equipped. There is even a workshop with headroom on board. Yard build classic and tough Centercockpit built by Conyplex yard in Medemblik, built in 1977 with building number 01, round bilge long fin keel, weighing 14,000 kilos with 4250 kg ballast, Dimensions: 13.00 x 4.00 x 2.00, Aluminium windows, nine berths, forward cabin double bed, bed length 2.00 meters, aft cabin double bedlength 2.00 meters and an additional cage-cum-sofa bedlength 2.00 meters, 2 bunk crew cabin to starboard, two beds on the long couches in the living room bed length 2.00 meters, headroom salon 1.96, steering wheel controled, stainless steel swim ladder, Bruce Anchor on Maxwell high speed electric windlass with 70 meters chain, Fortress anchor. 6 pers. Liferaft 6 persons (acquisition in 2007), should be approved.

Vertical clearance approx 18m, ketch rigged, Rigg completely replaced in 1993 Aluminium mast and boom and rigging, both masts fully equipped with mast steps, Genoa furler, baby forestay, battened mainsail from 2003. The ship is equipped with Furling (2003), mizzen (2003), Spinnaker trunk, storm jib, Blooper, trysail and a mizzen staysail. Sails are in good to very good condition. 2 pieces spinnaker pole, jibe catchsystem, 2 large pieces Barlow 32 self-tailing winches, 2 Andersen 40 self tailing sheet winches, 2 Andersen 28 sheet self tailing winches. 3 halyardwinches. Stainless steel davits for the dinghy.
