The tug measures 93 feet in length, 25’ in breath and 11.6’ in depth listed at 194 gross tons and certified for harbor work and near coastal towing. The tug features a continuous main deck with center deck house and pilothouse atop. The tug is powered by an Alco 16-cylinder diesel engine rated at 2400 HP and carries up to 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel in forward, aft, and double bottom tanks. The ELIOT WINSLOW was found to be in overall satisfactory condition, with coatings generally intact and usual wear and tear observed. The hull above the water line is protected by rubber fendering and large tires fenders. The vessel is fitted with standard electronics, hydraulic steering, pneumatic engine controls, adequate bitts and cleats for mooring and towing service. Fire and Life Safety equipment found aboard needs to be updated as required. Underwater Hull Area The vessel was afloat at the time of the survey, therefore conditions below the waterline could not be observed. The tug was reportedly last hauled in 2004 for routine maintenance. Topsides - The vessel’s topsides are in satisfactory condition. Weather decks are coated with non-skid paint. Ladders and handrails are in good condition. The open decks are surrounded by 20” bulwarks fitted with freeing ports. Superstructure - The vessel is fitted with a center deckhouse in support of crew spaces, galley and engine fidley on the main deck all accessed by water tight door from the weather deck. The pilothouse is located forward and atop the deck with access from an exterior weather tight door and an interior ladder from the main deck. Vessel Interior - The Tug’s interior spaces are finished in wood paneling and painted decks in good condition. The galley is fitted with a pedestal table, bench seating, a propane stove, microwave oven and stainless steel sink. There is a forecastle storage area located below the foredeck. Machinery - The Tug’s main power is a 16-cylinder Alco diesel engine rated at 2400 HP. The engine is heat exchanger cooled pneumatic start with dry vertical exhaust. In addition to auxiliary machinery for onboard systems, the vessel’s electric system is 110 DC provided by either a 30 KW of 40 KW diesel driven generator, 120 AC power is provided by a MG set. All machinery appears to be in good working order, but was not operated for purpose of this survey.
